While Curry Arts has been more active in the past (monthly programs, Spring Art Show, Kids’ Summer Art Program, Rotating Show at the Gold Beach City Hall, etc.) our activities are a reflection of the interests and energy of our members. Those who want to join us and put in the time and energy to rejuvenate past activities or generate new ones, are most welcome. |

Our Gold Beach Soroptimists just celebrated our 47th Birthday in February, 2010. The club was established in 1963 to begin service for women and children in the community. Our members are women who use the special expertise and management skills developed in their working life to make the world a better place for women and children. We work towards human rights for all, equality, development and peace.
SIGold Beach Particulars:
We are 1 of 2 clubs in the region who own their own building. Our membership of 45 women in our small community of 2006 citizens is privileged to work with: the community college to provide an annual Women's Opportunity Scholarship Award; Commission on Children and Families for the Violet Richardson Award, to a girl between the ages of 14 and 17 who volunteers to make her community a better place; we also provide a senior funding to attend Girls State during summer. We provide scholarship funding to OR Community Foundation and GB Educational Fund each year.
We donate thousands of pounds of food, and funding for the 3rd Street Food Bank; and the Snack Pack Program that provides food packs for children over the weekend so that they don't go hungry.
We support the Oasis House that serves as a protected shelter for families of domestic violence. The library for summer reading for school aged children, the 4 H program through the annual Fair. We have a Community Baby Shower for those who need help with newborns and small children. A Breast cancer, "Bras for the Cause" event.
We are a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization by which everything listed above is funded through the dedicated work of the members through the GBBAFEST, our Christmas Wreath project, The Rummage sale, and a Spring Family Festival.
